The proposed text sets out measures to protect the environment from the adverse effects resulting from the generation and management of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) and waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE or e-waste) throughout Argentina. The draft law invokes the concept of "extended producer responsibility" and makes producers of EEE responsible for the post-consumer stage of the products they produce and market, particularly regarding the legal and financial responsibility for the management of waste derived from their products. The Act applies to the categories of products contained in Annex 1, which are identical to those set out in the EU RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) Directive, with the additional categories of batteries.
