New California Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Regulations will take effect on July 1, 2015. Under the new regulations, California’s Energy Commission is authorized to establish an administrative enforcement process to address abuses of California's appliance efficiency standards and certification requirements.
The new regulations specify:
- who and what types of violations may be subject to a monetary penalty,
- what factors must be considered in determining the amount of a monetary penalty,
- what process must be followed to impose a monetary penalty, and
- how to appeal a decision by the Energy Commission.
