Canada is proposing an amendment to its Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCB) Regulations, regarding the extension of the end-of-use deadline for high concentration electrical equipment.
The amendment proposes that if transformers, potential transformÂers, circuit breakers, reclosers and bushings which are located at an electrical generation, transmission or distribution facility and that contain PCBs in a concentration of 500 mg/kg or more are in use on September 5, 2008, then these can stay in use until December 31, 2025.
