China Launches Due Diligence Guidelines for Responsible Mineral Supply Chains

China has launched Due Diligence Guidelines for Responsible Mineral Supply Chains. The overall objective of the guidelines is to bring Chinese company due diligence in line with international standards and support the recognition of existing international initiatives and legislations.

The guidelines apply to all Chinese companies extracting and/or using mineral resources and their related products and are involved at any stage of the minerals supply chain. Companies involved in the supply chain of other natural resources are also encouraged to use the guidelines as a reference.

Implementation will initially be voluntary.

The China Chamber of Commerce of Metals, Minerals and Chemicals Importers & Exporters (CCCMC) worked closely with the OECD in preparing the guidelines, as well as conducting a public consultation, and liaising with industry organizations and select stakeholders.
