China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has published two draft standards on the restriction of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products.
The Draft Guide of Risk Assessment for Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products sets out risk identification methods, risk assessment procedures and risk evaluation methods. It also contains four informative annexes: risk assessment using XRF; examples of risk assessment; typical application of restricted substances in electrical and electronic products; and statistics on the existence of restricted substances in electrical and electronic products and components.
The draft Standard on Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products sets out terminology and definitions used.
Comments on both draft Standards can be submitted to the Ministry by April 17, 2014.
