The new law encourages studies on the environmental quality impact on public health, urging prevention and control of pollution-related diseases, and sets out harsher punishments for environmental wrongdoings. The  law also says its citizens should adopt a low-carbon and frugal lifestyle and nominates June 5 as Environment Day.
