China Publishes Notice on Implementation of Top Runner Program on Energy Efficiency

China recently published a Notice on the revision of three texts for the implementation of energy efficiency requirements for the following products:

• household refrigerators
• variable speed room air conditioners
• flat panel televisions

Furthermore, the Notice introduces energy efficiency requirements for two new product groups:

• electric washing machines
• lighting products

The Notice aims to implement the provisions of the “Top Runner" or "Leader" Energy Efficiency Program of 2014. The provisions of the texts entered into force on the date of their publication and will be valid for a period of five years.
