The United States (US) Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a final rule, amending the play yard mandatory standard, codified at 16 CFR 1221.
Currently, the standard incorporates ASTM F406:2012a, Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Non-Full-Size Baby Cribs/Play Yards. In this final rule, CPSC is amending the standard to incorporate the most recent edition of the ASTM standard, ASTM F406:2013.
Through this amendment, CPSC is addressing hazards associated with misassembly of play yard bassinet accessories.
The final rule will take effect 19 February 2014, and will apply to all play yards manufactured or imported on or after that date.
