CPSC is required to establish such standards as per Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA). The rule establishes 16 CFR 1218, Safety Standard for Bassinets and Cradles. Per the rule, bassinets and cradles must comply with all applicable provisions of ASTM F2194:2013, Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Bassinets and Cradles. (*Note*: The rule establishes exemptions and additions to the standard, as per 16 CFR 1218.2(b).) The requirements apply to bassinets and cradles manufactured or imported on or after 23 April 2014.
