This represents an increase of 83% over the figure for 2014 which stands at an average of $1.435 million. Eight settlements are included in this year’s figures, compared to a total of five settlements in 2014, equaling $7.175 million. An increasing common element of these actions includes a requirement for companies to set up a compliance program. The **Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA)** has seen the CPSC civil penalty cap rise to $15.125 million. So even though current payments are rising, they still are nowhere near that level.
