The [report](http://echa.europa.eu/addressing-chemicals-of-concern/restriction/echas-activities-on-restrictions/european-commissions-requests-completed-assignments) analyses the use of cadmium in plastics and outlines reasons for not proposing a restriction at the moment. The objective of the EU [REACH regulation](http://www.complianceandrisks.com/about/regulated-areas/reach/) (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals) is to improve the protection of human health and the environment from the risks that can be posed by chemicals, while improving the competitiveness of the EU chemicals industry.
