The new labeling rules were debated on Monday July 4 by MEPs at the EU parliament and will be voted on Wednesday July 6. The current scale is to be replaced with a more transparent A-G system of displaying energy efficiency.  The new proposal requests clear and legible labels which display the product model's energy efficiency class and its total consumption in kWh for a given period of time. The proposed rules are likely to lead to additional energy savings equal to the yearly consumption of all three Baltic countries.  The European Union aims to improve energy efficiency levels by 27% by the year 2030.
