The European Commission (EC) and the Scientific Committee on Health and Environmental Risks (SCHER) have launched a public consultation on the preliminary opinion on chromium VI in toys.

The aim of the opinion is to consider whether a revision of the migration limits for chromium VI in toys or components of toys, is necessary in view of new available evidenc  
 e, in particular, with regard to potential carcinogenic effects of chromium VI.
