On 17 October 2012, Health Canada issued three recalls of children's jewelry containing excessive lead and cadmium.
The three recalls involved some 4,000 pieces of jewelry sold in Canada between 2005 and the present.
Each of the recalled jewelry products contained metallic components with lead in excess of allowable limits. Additionally, the products contained cadmium in excess of guidance levels proposed by Health Canada.
