The *Guide* provides information about children's jewelry manufactured, imported, ![](https://go.adherent.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/MH900280987-300x300.jpg?width=240&height=240&name=MH900280987-300x300.jpg "MH900280987")advertised, or sold in Canada. The *Guide* explains how Canada's Regulations apply to the lead content of children's jewelry; defines children's jewelry and helps identify which products fall within the scope of the Regulations; and specifies the analytical test methods to be used for children's jewelry. The Children's Jewellery Regulations apply to jewelry that is manufactured, sized, decorated, packaged, advertised, or sold in a manner that appeals primarily to children under 15. They do not apply to merit badges, medals for achievement, or other similar objects normally worn only occasionally. The Regulations restrict lead in any accessible component of children's jewelry, to a limit of 600 ppm total lead and 90 ppm migratable lead. Both limits must be met. The *Guide* provides further details on accessible components, including decorative and protective coatings. Additionally, the *Guide* outlines Health Canada's proposed guidelines for cadmium in children's jewelry.
