TCO Development, the company behind the TCO Certified sustainability certification for IT products, has introduced social responsibility (CSR) requirements into its new generation criteria. Building on internationally accepted conventions and reporting mechanisms, the objective is to provide industry with a structured and third party verified way of demonstrating their commitment to improving social practices in manufacturing. Third party verification of socially responsible manufacturing also adds credibility to CSR claims and assures buyers that the products they choose deliver the performance, environmental and social responsibility attributes they demand.
Clare Hobby is responsible for communications and business development at TCO Development, an organization that has been advancing Sustainable IT internationally for 20 years. A native of Australia and based in North America, Clare has held international management positions for over 15 years, dealing in high-tech, consumer goods and government relations roles. She holds a Master of Arts from the University of Melbourne, Australia and an Executive MSc in Communications from Northwestern University, USA.
Stephen Fuller is responsible for Product and Criteria Development at TCO Development and is the Project Manager for the new generation of CSR criteria. A native of England and based in Sweden, Stephen joined TCO Development after working many years as an engineer for an independent test laboratory where he specialised in Visual Ergonomics, EMC and Ecology, the former being the base for developing the test methods for an international standard.
