This Act regulates, inter alia, a) conditions for doing business in the energy sector, b) rights and obligations of participants in the energy market, c) measures aimed at ensuring safe supply of gas and electricity and the proper functioning of an internal electricity and gas market d) rights and obligations of persons whose rights and obligations may be affected by participants in the energy market, f) state supervision and control of the businesses in the energy sector. The law implements the following EU Directives: Directive 2005/89/EC on measures to safeguard security of electricity supply and infrastructure investment; Directive 2009/72/EC on common rules for the internal market in electricity and Directive 2009/73/EC on common rules for the internal market in natural gas.
