It defines technological waste or e-waste as household electrical appliances and components for household, industrial, commercial or service sector use that are in disuse and subject to final disposal. Product manufacturers, importers or sellers are charged with keeping waste collection points and the take-back of end-of-life electrical products from consumers. The law also sets out labeling requirements for the product label and/or packaging. For electrical products or components containing heavy metals or toxic substances a license is required for the final disposal of the e-waste. This may entail a prior environmental impact assessment.
