The Norwegian Ministry of Environment has amended its regulations on consumer products that contain perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), restricting the amount of the acid and some salts and esters of PFOA in consumer products, textiles and carpets. The restrictions must be complied with by 1 June 2014.
The restrictions also extend to adhesive, foil or tape in semiconductors and photographic coatings for film, paper or screen by 1 January 2016.
The prohibitions do not apply to food packaging, food contact materials or medical devices.
The Amendment comes into force immediately.
