A public meeting will take place on September 15, 2015 in Washington, DC, and comments will be accepted 75 days after publication in the Federal Register*.* If adopted, these proposed revisions would harmonize the instrumentation resolution and uncertainty requirements with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 62301 standard (second edition) and other international standards for measuring standby power. Also, the proposed amendments would update and propose new battery selection criteria covering multi-voltage, multi-capacity battery chargers. It would provide explicit steps on how to select a battery if more than one battery meets the selection criteria for those chargers. In addition, the proposal outlines provisions for conditioning and discharging lead acid batteries.
