In a notification published by the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in January 2018, companies importing or exporting the listed HFCs, whether in pure or mixture forms, will be required to obtain a Hazardous Substances (HS) licence. Upon entry into force of the Kigali Amendment, parties will be required to phase down the production and consumption of the listed HFCs. Commonly used in refrigeration and air conditioning as substitutes for ozone-depleting substances, HFCs are currently the world's fastest growing greenhouse gases.
