Standards Australia proposes revision to Australia's children's nightwear flammability standard

On 17 June 2013, Standards Australia published a draft revision of AS 1249, the mandatory safety standard on children's nightwear having reduced fire hazard.

The standard specifies design, performance, and labeling requirements for four categories of children’s nightwear, together with some garments commonly worn both day and night.

The draft revision contains a number of significant changes, including rationalizing and reducing of the flammability tests and trim requirements and establishment of a new Low Fire Danger label for Categories 1, 2, and 3, which includes the flame symbol.
