Under the Clean Air Act, EPA reviews the standards every five years and the last update set the standard at 75 ppb. EPA studies indicate that exposure to ozone at levels below the current standard of 75 ppb can pose serious threats to public health. Public comments can be submitted for 90 days following publication in the Federal Register, and the agency plans to hold three public hearings. The final ozone standards will be issued by October 1, 2015.
