The Bill contains proposed provisions which require sellers and manufacturers of electronic devices to offer a system for consumers whereby they can dispose of their unwanted electrical and electronic equipment upon purchase of a newer version of the same, or practically the same item. This Bill was proposed by House Representative Scott Davies S. Lanete, and applies whether the item(s) is either purchased in-store, online or by mail order.
The proposed provision relates to both manufacturers and sellers of 'all electronic devices', a term which is not defined in the Bill.
The Bill, if enacted, is due to enter into force fifteen days after its publication in a newspaper of general circulation.
