The European Commission is opening a public commission on BiPRO GmbH to evaluate two applications for granting new
exemptions. These are to be included in the Annexes of RoHS 2 (Directive 2011/65/EU).
Both requests were proposed under Article 5(1)(a) of Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) and are the focus of the consultation launched by BiPRO. These are as follows:
- Cadmium as a photo detector when ionising radiation tolerant video camera tubes. This impacts the following products; Video cameras (which have been designed for use inside environments subject to high radiation exposure, such as radioactive waste management facilities and nuclear power plants.) These are known as RoHS categories 3,4,9 and 11.
- Lead & cadmium in post-consumer PVC-U profiles of both doors and windows. Products impacted include: windows & doors, which are known as RoHS category 11.
All interested parties are asked to put forward their comments no later than December 9, 2016.
