Stacey Bowers, Global Market Access Manager at Compliance & Risks, will be presenting at the ICPHSO 2022 Annual Meeting and Training Symposium on 14 - 17 February.

**ICPHSO’s Annual Meeting and Training Symposium**

The symposium brings together industry leading manufacturers, importers and retailers, legal experts, trade associations, government agencies and regulators from around the globe. It provides an opportunity for global health and safety professionals to participate in discussions that enhance the safety of consumer products throughout the world.

**Counterfeit Products: A Growing Risk to Global Product Safety**

On Tuesday 15 February, 2:00pm EST, Stacey will be presenting on an interactive, multi stakeholder panel discussion entitled ‘Counterfeit Products: A Growing Risk to Global Product Safety’. 

This practical session will track the progression of counterfeiting as a purely IP/ brand reputation issue, to the mainstay product safety issue it is today.

The session will consider counterfeiting issues across the life of a product, including:

- Legislative responses currently being deployed to counteract these problems, such as such as the Russian Chestny Znak ("Honest Sign"), and the proposed US federal House bill, The SHOP SAFE Act
- The issues counterfeit products cause for retailers and brands, opening them up to lost sales and reputational harm with consumers, as well as the risk of recalls and civil penalties from counterfeits that don't meet safety or quality regulations
- Novel and innovative mitigation strategies to avoid these issues, as provided by retailers and manufacturers tackling counterfeiting head-on

Other speakers on the panel include Lindsay Lorimer, Partner at McMillan LLP, Martyn Allen, Technical Director at Electrical Safety First, and Nate Herman, Senior Vice President, Policy, American Apparel & Footwear Association.
