In July 2013 Juan Manuel Santos, president of Colombia, signed a significant law outlining Colombia's policy on the management of Electronic Waste Management. This new law follows on from the 2010 resolution on Collection and Management of Computer Waste. The new law on Management of Waste of Electronic and Electrical Equipment (WEEE) defines the term "producer" and establishes certain producer responsibilities, regarding, for example, product design, recovery and take-back.
