The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has launched a public consultation on a restriction proposal for lead and its compounds intended for consumer use based on the draft opinion of the Committee for Socio-economic Analysis (SEAC). The deadline for comments is February 14, 2014.

SEAC will review and consider all comments in its final opinion, which is due for adoption by March 21, 2014. Early next year, ECHA will submit the opinions of the Committee for Risk Assessment (RAC) and SEAC to the European Commission who will take the final decision on the restriction.
