The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced the launch of the specification revision process for ENERGY STAR Luminaires version 2.0. They are encouraging early stakeholder feedback on potential changes to the specification’s approach and scope, and all comments should be submitted to lighting@energystar.gov by November 14, 2014.
EPA has identified 3 main categories for these proposed revisions; the streamlining and simplification of requirements, testing and the certification process, the increase of the efficacy levels to keep pace with the technology and capture greater energy savings and finally amending the scope and increasing flexibility to broaden the selection, customization and availability of ENERGY STAR certified luminaires.
