The EU Council today amended its biocides regulation. The objective behind the original regulation, which has been in force since September 1, 2013, was to improve the functioning of the internal market in biocidal products, at the same time as safeguarding human health and the environment.
The purpose of the amendment is to help solve problems in relation to provisions of the existing biocides regulation, such as removing unintended market barriers for suppliers of new articles treated with biocidal products and for a large number of suppliers of biocidal active substances.
