Missouri Bill Would Establish Mandatory E-Waste Takeback Targets For Manufacturers

Missouri has proposed a Bill that would replace the "reasonably convenient" standard for manufacturer e-waste collection programs with specific targets to be phased in over the upcoming program years.

The recovery goals would be as follows:

1. For program year 2017, the equivalent of forty percent of the OEM's CED or EED units sold in the state in 2016;
2. For program year 2018, the equivalent of fifty percent of the OEM's CED or EED units sold in the state in 2017;
3. For program year 2019, the equivalent of sixty percent of the OEM's CED or EED units sold in the state in 2018;
4. For program year 2020 and every year thereafter, the equivalent of seventy-five percent of the OEM's CED or EED units sold in the state the previous calendar year.

The bill would also provide for a fine of fifteen thousand dollars to be assessed for failure to meet the recovery goals.
