The Philippine Congress is considering a proposed bill, the Toy and Game Safety Labeling Act of 2012, which would establish new safety labeling requirements for toys and games.
The bill would establish labeling requirements for toys and games intended for use by children under 14 years of age which include a small part. Such products would be required to bear cautionary statements regarding choking hazards and age grading, as well as corresponding graphics.
The bill would also establish labeling requirements for latex balloons, small balls intended for children under 10 years of age, and marbles intended for children under 14 years of age, as well as any toy or game containing such products. Such products would be required to bear cautionary statements regarding choking hazards, as well as corresponding graphics.
If enacted, the Act will take effect 15 days after its publication.
