Procedures for Testing Televisions Finalized by US DOE

The US Department of Energy (DOE) has published a final rule on test procedures for TVs.

TVs powered by main batteries are excluded from the Rule, while TVs with auxiliary batteries shall be included in the scope.

This final rule defines tests for active (on mode), standby mode, off mode, and screen luminance measurements. The data obtained through this test procedure includes the power consumption measurements for all available modes of operation, power factor measurements in on mode, screen luminance values, and anannual energy consumption metric based on the power consumption of individual modes of operation.
