The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is looking for comments for its proposal to make portable air conditioners (ACs) qualify as a covered product under Part A of Title III of the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA), as amended.
The DOE is including ACs because the average U.S. household energy use for portable ACs is likely to exceed 100 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year and classifying these products as covered, is necessary or appropriate to carry out the purposes of EPCA.
All comments are to be submitted in writing by August 5, 2013.
