South Korea has established a common safety standard for all products designed for children. The Notice prohibits the use of asbestos in child products and introduces new limits for the use of certain hazardous substances such as DEHP, DBP and BBP in surface coatings.
The limits listed only apply to sections of the product which have the potential to enter a child's mouths, limits do not apply to product sections inaccessible to children during use, such as electrical connections.
Furthermore products not intended for the use of children, but containing the listed substances must be accompanied by a warning label against the placement of such objects in the mouth.
