Taiwan’s Environmental Protection Administration has recently published an amendment on Restrictions on the Manufacture, Import, and Sale of Dry Cell Batteries.
It expands the scope of the regulation to include alkaline manganese button cell batteries, mercury oxide batteries and silver oxide batteries as designated battery types.
It also sets out more strict limits on heavy metal content level in designated batteries.
The Amendment allows a transitional period that ends on January 1, 2017 for manufacturers and importers to comply with restrictions and management requirements for newly designated battery types.
