Taiwan's Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI) has issued a notification of a draft Public Notice on safety of "toy commodities."
Per the draft Public Notice, all toys, whether domestically produced or imported from abroad, would be subject to inspection requirements before distribution in Taiwan.
The draft Public Notice would apply to 10 categories of "toy commodities," including, but not limited to:
- magnetic toys;
- toys attached to pens or toy-shaped pens; and
- toys of iron or steel attached to hanging decorations or key rings
The draft Public Notice is open for comment through 31 July 2013.
If enacted, the Public Notice would take effect on 15 October 2013.
