Mexico has announced a new Standard on Energy Efficiency Requirements for Electric Motors. The Official Standard was publish earlier this week by the Mexican National Consultative Committee of Standards for the Preservation and Rational Use of Energy Resources (CCNNPURRE) and the Mexican National Commission for Energy Efficiency (CONUEE).
This Standard is responsible for determining acceptance criteria, test method, energy efficiency limits, and marking for open and closed, induction, three phase, squirrel cage AC motors, all with a rated output of 0.746 - 373 kW.
Standard NOM-016-2016 adds a more in-depth procedure for conformity assessment, along with editorial changes and technological updates in order to facilitate and guide the following parties during implementation:
- Certification bodies
- Testing laboratories
- Manufacturers
- Importers and
- Marketers
This revised Standard will enter into force on January 14, 2017, and will subsequently replace the mandatory Standard NOM-016-ENER-2010.
